Generic Viagra

Sildenafil is a generic drug used to treat erectile dysfunction, often known as impotence, which is the inability to obtain or maintain an erection. Viagra is a branded drug which contains sidenafil. Sildenafil citrate may also be used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension or PAH. Sildenafil is a class of medications called phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors. This medication increases blood flow to the penis and induces marked penile erection. This medication does not increase sexual desire or cure erectile dysfunction. Sildenafil does not prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases such as (HIV) human immunodeficiency virus. It also does not prevent pregnancy. Viagra is commonly known as "the Blue Pill" or "Vitamin V".

The physiological process of Sildenafil involves the parasympathetic nervous system, which causes the release of nitric oxide in the corpus cavernosum of the penis. This in turn leads to the relaxation of the smooth muscles in the corpus cavernosum. This causes an increase in blood flow and an erection. Viagra should not cause an erection without sexual stimulation.

Proper dosage of the medication should be taken under the directions of a licensed medical doctor to check for contraindications and side effects. It is usually recommended to take a pill once per day around 30 minutes to 4 hours prior to sexual intercourse.

Along with erectile dysfunction, sildenafil citrate is also effective in the rare disease of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). It helps relax the arterial wall, which leads to decreased pulmonary arterial resistance and pressure. This causes the workload of the right ventricle to reduce and helps improve symptoms of right-sided heart failure. Sildenafil acts selectively in the areas of the arterial wall smooth muscle of the lungs and penis without inducing vasodilation in other areas of the body.

A low-concentration solution of sildenafil and water is said to prolong the time before cut flowers wilt.
